Break Bulk & Container Agencies, Ship Brokering and Chartering : Total agency related services are provided to the customers. Such ervices are customized depending on the individual need of the customers thus ensuring safe and early delivery of cargo from the point of production to the point of consumption.
 

Dredging : With a trained pool of personnel and requisite dredging equipment, the company is poised to take up work in a big way in this line of service. Sohom Shipping is currently carrying out the dredging operations for Mackintosh Burn Ltd., a Government of India organization.
 

▪ Own equipments comprising of EX210 Excavators, EX200 Long Arm Excavators, EX70 Excavators, JD350 Back Whole, Earth Compaction Vibrators, Pontoons, Motorised Boats, Payloaders (Volvo Make) and fleet of Dumpers. Apart from the above, equipments are taken on hire/lease as per requirements.

▪ Completion of major dredging projects of Icchamati Canal, Tolly Nullah, SWF Canal and KEIP - Package I. All these projects are major Government Projects.

Midstream Lighterage and Barge Operations :
 

Fleet of own and leased barges used for midstream lighterage / loading operations.

• Own fleet of 2 self propelled barges each of 3000 metric tonnes capacity. Built as per IRS specification, the barges are also protected under First Class London P&l coverage
   
• Ship/Shore lighterage/loading of both conventional and containerized cargo.
   
• Encouraged larger vessels to turn up, which was earlier not possible due to restrictions of draft.
   
• AFacilitates optimum utilization of vessel cargo carrying capacity by loading/discharging at the safe anchorage and deep draft point of Diamond Harbour or Sagar Roads.
   
• Faster turn around of vessels
   
• Helped in increasing in the revenue generation of Kolkata Port Trust by facilitating increased container throughput

 
 

Stevedoring : This is a core competency of the organization. From its inception in 1995, Shipping has been handling vessels to the extent of 200,000 tons of cargo per year on an average at kolkata, Haldia, Diamond Harbour and Sagar Anchorage. From inception we have had the priviledge of handling vessels totaling to 2 hundred thousand tones per year on an average since 1995 at Kolkata / Haldia. The major export items so far Having been issued the license in May 2006, it started stevedoring as a pioneer in the port of Kolkata amidst other existing stevedores. As a stevedore, Sohom Shipping has so far handled 1 million ton of cargo in Kolkata Port, Diamond Harbour and Sagar. It is our proud privilege and worth mentioning that in the history of Kolkata Port the largest vessel M.V. NEPHILI with 41,150 mts of cargo had been handled by Sohom Shipping in November 2006. The stevedoring set up is fully experienced and equipped to render best possible service in handling import & export cargo of the esteemed principals and would look forward to their continued patronage in the interest of mutual benefit.
